The Don Carlos Suite was quite beautiful with high ceilings, doors, and windows providing a lovely view of the garden. The room also featured a superb Prince Charles de Bourbon room with a large, comfortable bed, antique furniture, and other charming pieces.

The dining experience was fantastic, with a beautifully displayed breakfast spread featuring a variety of options. The only suggestion would be to include some protein choices like ham or hard-boiled eggs.

8.4/10

My stay at the hotel was lovely, though the rooms were very small for what seemed like a stately home. The price of £140 felt overpriced considering we were restricted from sharing the rest of the house. On the bright side, the room was glorious and beautifully presented, showcasing great beauty despite the slight sound transmission due to the old-style wood floors.

The room was glorious and beautifully presented, despite being a bit small for what felt like a stately home. The charm of the old-style wood floors did lead to slight sound transmission from room to room.
Service
9.0
The service was impeccable, with the staff being very helpful and friendly. They were particularly accommodating upon our arrival, guiding us through the very narrow 14th-century gateway and providing a wealth of knowledge about the area and the historic building. The owners themselves made us feel incredibly welcome.
Location
9.0
The location of the hotel was perfect, right in the center of the city. The restored building was indeed very beautiful, and the huge and beautifully decorated interior added to the appeal. The only minor downside was the lack of savory options in the dining area; a balance with something savory would be nice. Also, maneuvering down the wide, shallow-tread stone staircase may be challenging for some.
Dining
8.0
The dining experience was delightful, with a superb spread that included home-made cakes and treats in generous proportions. The only suggestion for improvement would be to add more savory options to complement the sweet offerings, such as ham or cheese, especially considering the abundance of sweet items like chocolate gateau slices. Despite this, the food was plentiful and delicious, with fresh figs, homemade jam, and fruit compote standing out.
Facilities
8.0
The hotel boasts great beauty with well-preserved facilities and a charming atmosphere that immerses you in the historic backdrop. Though the room was priced a bit high, the amenities offered were of high quality and contributed significantly to the experience. The charm of the old-style décor and the historic setting make this a worthwhile stay despite the minor downsides.
